Eligibility and Employment Conditions

Eligibility

Prospective researchers must meet the following requirements:

  • Hold a Ph.D. or a degree of specialization in medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, or veterinary medicine, or a degree of proficiency in the arts.

  • To have completed their PhD, specialty training in medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, or veterinary medicine, or a degree of proficiency in the arts within the past 7 (seven) years.

  • To apply with an active project that has at least 12 (twelve) months remaining as of the application date. (Subject to provisions regarding extensions

  • Meet the English proficiency requirement approved by the University Senate; provide documentation of having achieved the minimum score on nationally or internationally recognized exams deemed equivalent, or meet the specified exemption conditions.

    Important Note: Foreign researchers are not eligible for this program.
    In accordance with the circular of the Higher Education Council dated 06.05.2026 and numbered E-82444403-299-28872, it is not possible to employ foreign researchers within the scope of Additional Article 34 of Law No. 2547.

Employment Conditions and Restrictions
  1. Provided that the period does not exceed seven years following the completion of a Ph.D. or a residency program in medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, or veterinary medicine, or a degree of proficiency in the arts, a researcher may be appointed under this framework for a total of no more than 3 (three) years.

  2. Researchers employed under this framework:

  • May not be assigned teaching duties at the university.

  • Except for project-related work, may not be assigned to work outside the university for a period longer than 1 (one) week.

  • May not engage in any other gainful employment outside the university.

  • Postdoctoral researchers may not be appointed under the provisions of Additional Article 46 of Law No. 2547 or Additional Article 25 of Decree-Law No. 375.

  • The total number of researchers to be employed at the university under this program is limited to 2% of Boğaziçi University’s filled faculty positions.
