Onboarding

The Onboarding Program supports newly appointed faculty members at Boğaziçi University in the first ten years of their careers, enabling them to build competitive research portfolios and to pursue distinguished funding opportunities such as the ERC Starting and Consolidator Grants.
This initiative provides a tailored roadmap for each academic, offering structured guidance and incentives. With a stepwise framework, researchers are guided from national to increasingly competitive international funding opportunities.
Through a ten-year development plan, early-career faculty are guided to first build experience in proposal writing and project management with national funds and then transition to larger-scale international funding opportunities.
Illustrative Roadmap:
- Stage 1: Building Initial Project Experience (Year 1)
- Goal: To launch the first independent research project and establish fundamental project management skills.
- Suggested Funds: TÜBİTAK 3501 Career Development Program; BAP Start-Up Grants.
- Stage 2: Expanding National Research Capacity (Years 2–3)
- Goal: To manage larger research teams and projects, achieving national visibility and scientific impact.
- Suggested Funds: TÜBİTAK 1001 Scientific and Technological Research Projects Support Program.
- Stage 3: Advancing to International Collaboration and ERC Readiness (Year 4+)
- Goal: To establish strong international research partnerships, engage in large-scale project development, and complete the scientific and administrative groundwork for ERC Starting and Consolidator Grant applications.
- Suggested Funds: TÜBİTAK and Horizon Europe international collaboration schemes; COST Actions; and ultimately ERC StG and CoG.
