Applications are now open for the 2026 Sedat Simavi Awards, which have been presented for 50 years in honour of Sedat Simavi, the Founding President of the Turkish Journalists Association (TGC). The Awards aim to encourage creative work and recognise outstanding achievements in journalism, arts, culture, science and sports.

🔎 Award Categories and Scope
The Sedat Simavi Awards are presented in nine categories:

• Journalism,

• Radio,

• Television,

• Cartoon,

• Literature,

• Social Sciences,

• Natural Sciences,

• Health Sciences, and

• Sports.

Award recipients receive a small statue of Sedat Simavi and an award certificate. Applicants whose work is recognised as worthy of commendation receive a plaque and a certificate of commendation.

Application Open: 22 July 2026

Application Deadline:, 30 September 2026 (17:00)

The selection committees will complete their evaluations in November, and the awards will be presented at a ceremony held in December.

✅ Eligibility

Candidates may enter the selection process through:

• Nomination by an organisation or educational institution,

• An individual application, or

• Nomination by a Preliminary Research Committee established by the Turkish Journalists Association.

📌 Important Notes

• Applications must be submitted by 17:00 on 30 September 2026.

• Candidates may apply in only one category and with one work.

• Works that have previously received an award in a national competition are not eligible.

• Conventional textbooks; undergraduate, graduate, specialisation and doctoral theses; and articles based on such theses are not eligible.

• Elected members of the TGC Executive Board may not be nominated.

• Applicants in all categories must submit a curriculum vitae, a photograph and the relevant category-specific application documents.

• An Artificial Intelligence Use Declaration is included among the application documents. Applicants should review this form according to whether artificial intelligence tools were used in producing their work.

• Materials submitted for the Awards will not be returned.
