Applications Open for the TÜBİTAK 2247-D National Young Researchers Program!
Applications are now open for the 2247-D National Young Researchers Program, administered by the TÜBİTAK Science Fellowships and Grant Programmes Department (BİDEB).
The program aims to support young researchers in Türkiye to conduct projects with high potential for groundbreaking advances, landmark discoveries, or major scientific inventions in areas needed by our country.

📌 Application Process
Applications must be submitted online through the TÜBİTAK Management Information System (TYBS) (tybs.tubitak.gov.tr) during the announced call period.
The evaluation process consists of two stages:
- Stage 1: Applicants submit Stage 1 Application Form (including project description, motivation letter, track record & pioneering work, CV, and annexes). Candidates scoring at least 60% in Stage 1 are eligible to proceed to Stage 2.
- Stage 2: Shortlisted candidates submit the Detailed Research Proposal Form.
Prior to submission, applicants must update their Researcher Information System (ARBİS) profiles. All application documents uploaded to the system must be in Turkish.
✅ Eligibility
Workplace Requirement: Must be employed in Türkiye as of the first day of application.
Age and Experience Requirement:
- Having held a PhD degree for no more than 7 years, possessing at least 1 year of research experience during this period, and being under 40 years of age (for female applicants, 1 year is added to the age limit per childbirth); OR
- For applicants from the private sector: Having at least 4 years of full-time post-graduate research experience (with at least 1 year in the private sector) and being under 40 years of age.
- Prior Principal Investigator (PI) Requirement: Must have completed at least one R&D project as a Principal Investigator under TÜBİTAK R&D and Innovation Funding Programs (1001, 1002, 1003, 1004, 1005, 1007, 3005, 3501, COST, 1071, 1505, 2218, 2232, 2236, 2247-B, etc.). (Researchers whose projects will be completed by the end of 2026 are also eligible to apply).
Publication & Output Threshold: Must achieve at least 20 publication points in Science/Health/Engineering or at least 15 points in Social Sciences & Humanities over the last 5 years.
Note: ERC Grantees (or Horizon 2020 / Horizon Europe RIA/IA Coordinators) or recipients of TÜBİTAK Incentive Award, TWAS Incentive Award, or TÜBA GEBİP Award are exempt from prior PI project and publication point requirements.
Project Team Structure: Under this program, the project team consists exclusively of the Principal Investigator and scholars/researchers; researchers or consultants cannot be included in the project team.
💶 Funding Scope and Duration
Maximum Research Budget: Up to TRY 5,000,000 (for R&D project expenses).
Project Incentive Bonus (PTI): Maximum TRY 9,000/month for the Principal Investigator.
Institutional Overhead: Provided at 10% of the total research budget and scholarship allocation.
- Fully covered by TÜBİTAK if the host institution is a State University or Public Institution; 25% of research support is covered by the host institution if it is a Foundation University or SME; and 40% if it is a Large Enterprise.
Scholarships: Mandatory to recruit at least 2 doctoral students and up to 5 scholars/researchers in total (doctoral students or postdoctoral researchers).
- Doctoral Students (Full/Partial): TRY 32,500/month / TRY 8,500/month
- Postdoctoral Researchers (Post-Doc): TRY 43,500/month
Project Duration: Maximum 36 months.
Quota Exemption: Applications under this program are exempt from standard TÜBİTAK project participation quotas per person.
