Applications are now open for the 2026 Parlar Awards, presented annually by the METU Prof. Dr. Mustafa N. Parlar Education and Research Foundation to promote scientific production, technological development, research, service and contributions to society.

🔎 Award Categories and Scope

The 2026 Parlar Awards will be presented in the following six categories:

• Honor Award

• Science Award

• Service Award

• Dr. Ziya Tinel “Vefa” (Loyalty) Award

• Research Incentive Award

• Technology Incentive Award

The Awards aim to recognise the research, technological achievements, professional service and societal contributions of distinguished scientists and practitioners in engineering and the fundamental sciences, while encouraging emerging generations of researchers.

📅 Award Timeline

Application Opening Date: 1 August 2026
Application Deadline: 31 August 2026

Applications must be submitted through the online application system.

Award recipients are expected to be announced on 19 December 2026, during the annual commemoration of Prof. Dr. Mustafa N. Parlar.

✅ Who May Apply or Be Nominated?
Candidates for the Honor, Science, Service and Dr. Ziya Tinel “Vefa” Awards may be nominated by:

• Higher education institutions,

• Public or private scientific research organisations,

• Research and development centres,

• Organisations operating in technology development zones,

• Authorised bodies or officially authorised representatives of professional organisations,

• Members of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees and Executive Board, and

• Previous recipients of the Parlar Honor, Science or Service Awards.

Candidates may also submit individual applications for the Research Incentive Award and the Technology Incentive Award.

The Research Incentive Award is intended for researchers who have not reached the age of 40 as of the first day of the award year. Applications for the Technology Incentive Award may be submitted by individuals or on behalf of research and development groups.

📌 Dr. Ziya Tinel “Vefa” Award
The Dr. Ziya Tinel “Vefa” Award, which will be presented for the first time in 2026, was established to honour the memory of Dr. Ziya Tinel, who played a leading role in the establishment of the Foundation; to recognise individuals or organisations distinguished by exemplary acts of loyalty and commitment; and to promote the value of vefa within society.

There is no online application system for this award. Nominations may be submitted by email to parlar-w@parlar.org.tr by 31 August 2026, together with a letter outlining the grounds for the nomination and any supporting documents, where applicable.

📝 Important Notes

• Applications and nominations must comply with the eligibility conditions of the relevant award category.

• Each authorised individual or institution may nominate only one candidate for the relevant award year.

• The same individual or research and development group may apply or be nominated for the same award category no more than three times.

• An individual may receive the same type of Parlar Award only once.
