The European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO) Postdoctoral Fellowships provide international mobility opportunities for researchers in the life sciences, offering the chance to conduct high-level research in different countries. Funded by EMBC member and associated states, the programme supports fellows through grants, mobility assistance, and access to scientific networks.

📅 Call Timeline

• Spring Call Deadline: 23 January 2026 (Friday, 4th week of January)

• Autumn Call Deadline: Second Friday of July

✅ Eligibility Criteria

• Hold a PhD degree (or provide evidence that it will be obtained before the fellowship start date).

• For applicants who already hold a PhD: the degree must have been awarded no more than two years before the application date.

• Have at least one first-author research article published (or accepted) in an international peer-reviewed journal.

• Apply to conduct postdoctoral research in a different country from where the PhD was obtained.

• Applicants must not return to a laboratory where they have previously worked for more than six months.

• If currently working at the host laboratory, applicants must have been there for no longer than six months at the time of application.

💶 Funding Funding & Benefits
• Duration: Minimum 1 year – Maximum 2 years.
• Financial Support: Fellowship amounts vary by country and are transferred to the host institution.
• Relocation/Travel Allowance: One-time payment at the start of the fellowship.
• Additional Benefits: Access to the EMBO Fellows’ Network and free participation in the EMBO Laboratory Leadership Course.

• Applications are submitted directly to EMBO via the online application system.

• Eligible applicants may be invited to an online interview.
