"The Future of EU Steel Research - How to foster EU steel leadership" event will be held on Wednesday 26 November 2025 in Mönchengladbach, Germany and online.

Organized by the European Steel Technology Platform (ESTEP), EU Steel Association (EUROFER), and the European Research Agency (REA), the conference aims to dive into groundbreaking technologies, strategies for achieving sustainability goals, and the pressing challenges shaping the EU steel industry.

The event will showcase how Research Fund for Coal and Steel (RFCS) funded projects are accelerating the green transition of Europe’s steel sector through decarbonization, circularity, and industrial symbiosis. Participants will discover the latest advances in energy efficiency, electrification, hydrogen-based steelmaking, and innovative scrap recycling.

The program features two focused sessions:

• Low to Zero Emission Iron and Steel Production
• Closing the Loop: Raw Materials, Circularity and Industrial Symbiosis
