Second Call for LEAP-SE
The EUROLakes project is launching a call for Associated Regions to replicate its cutting- The Long-Term Joint EU-AU Research and Innovation Partnership on Sustainable Energy (LEAP-SE) program, co-funded under Horizon Europe, has released a pre-announcement for its second joint call, following the first call in 2025. The program aims to develop a long-term R&I partnership between Europe and Africa on sustainable energy. The second call is planned for publication on 19 November 2025. Supported by national/regional funding agencies from Africa and Europe, including TÜBİTAK, the 2026 call will focus on strengthening the impact of R&I activities for the well-being of society in both continents.

- Publication of the Call: 19 November 2025
- Deadline for Pre-proposal submission: 05 February 2026
- Communication of Pre-proposal assessment: 29 April 2026
- Deadline for Full Proposal submission: 24 June 2026
- Communication of Full-proposal assessment: Mid-November 2026
- Latest starting date of selected projects: 01 April 2027
✅ Eligibility
- Consortia must consist of project partners from a minimum of four countries from the two continents.
- Must include at least two independent legal entities from two different EU Member States or Horizon Europe associated countries participating in the Call, asking for and eligible to receive support.
- Must include at least two independent legal entities from two different African Union countries, with at least one partner asking for and eligible to receive support from a participating national/regional funder.
- The consortium must include at least one partner from the institutional research sector (academic, public research center, etc.) and one partner from the private sector (commercial company) coming from participating countries.
📂 Support Scope and Duration
- Projects can be 12-36 months long.
💶 Funding Opportunities
- The total indicative call budget is around €12 million (from funding organisations) plus €3.5 million (EC contribution).
- Total requested funding per consortium should not exceed €1.5 million.
- Maximum funding per partner in one project is set at €500k, subject to national funding agency limits.
