IKI Large Grants Call 2025
The International Climate Initiative (IKI) has opened its annual "Large Grants" call to address current challenges in climate change mitigation, adaptation, and biodiversity conservation. The thematic priorities are based on international negotiations (UNFCCC, CBD) and the IKI Strategy up to 2030. Under this call, IKI plans to fund projects addressing 11 thematic and country-specific priorities. Projects must be technically suitable for achieving the specific objectives of the respective priority and aim for transformation (systemic/permanent behavioral change). The selection process has two phases: 1. Outline Phase and 2. Proposal Phase.

- Call Deadline (Outline Phase): 17 February 2026
✅ Eligibility
- Applications must be submitted as a consortium (association of at least two organizations).
- Non-governmental organizations, universities and research institutions, international intergovernmental organizations (e.g., development banks), UN organizations, implementing organizations of the Federal Republic of Germany, commercial enterprises.
- Partner country governments and individuals are not eligible.
- At least 50% of the total IKI funding must be implemented by local organizations.
- Must have at least 5 years of experience in relevant project implementation in ODA countries and meet the turnover criterion.
📂 Support Scope and Duration
- Projects can run for up to 8 years.
💶 Funding Opportunities
- Funding Volume per Project: EUR 5 – 20 Million
- One to two projects will be selected per priority.
