FORTIS Open Call #1
The FORTIS project has (re)launched its Open Call #1 to support innovative projects aiming to enhance human-robot collaboration, thereby increasing efficiency, safety, and productivity in industrial environments. The call seeks to attract interdisciplinary consortia of innovators from academia and industry to contribute to the FORTIS project through human-centric approaches in areas such as Activity Recognition (using non-wearable/wearable sensors), Long-term Memory (memory consolidation, lifelong learning), Enhancing Robotic Intelligibility (directional audio/visual effects), and Multimodality Semantic Segmentation/Perception.

- Call Launch: November 17, 2025
- Submission Deadline: January 21, 2026 (19.00)
- Evaluation Period: February - March 2026
- Contract Agreement: April 2026
- Project Start: May 2026
✅ Eligibility
- Proposals must be submitted by consortia composed of 2 to 3 entities.
- SMEs, Mid-caps, universities, and research institutions are eligible.
- Each consortium must include at least one SME.
- The consortium must include entities from at least two different countries.
- EU Member States and Horizon Europe Associated Countries.
- Entities established in the United Kingdom and Switzerland are not eligible.
📂 Support Scope and Duration
- Projects will last for a total of 10 months, divided into 3 sprints (3+4+3 months).
Scope:
- The support is based on a Lump Sum model. Costs (e.g., personnel, travel) are not reported individually; payments are linked to the achievement of defined Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Payment Schedule: Payments are made in installments upon the successful completion of each sprint: 30% (Sprint 1) + 40% (Sprint 2) + 30% (Sprint 3).
💶 Funding Opportunities
- Maximum Funding per Project: €250,000.
- Maximum Funding per Entity: €200,000.
Funding Rates:
- For non-profit organizations: Up to 100% of total costs.
- For SMEs and for-profit organizations (including Mid-caps): Up to 70% of total costs.
- The budget share of non-industrial partners cannot exceed 30%.
