On 21 December 2023, the European Commission launched the European Virtual Human Twins (VHT) Initiative.

This initiative contributes to the EU’s objectives of strengthening health data infrastructures, enhancing supercomputing capacities, and promoting the effective use of artificial intelligence in healthcare, in line with key EU policies such as the AI Continent Action Plan, the AI Strategy, and Strategy for European Life Sciences.
