The European Excellence Initiative (EEI) Call aims to strengthen excellence capacity in higher education institutions. By fostering the participation of university alliances and networks, and particularly the inclusion of Widening countries, the call seeks to enhance scientific excellence and value-creation capacity.

Applications must involve at least three higher education institutions from three different EU Member States or Associated Countries. The coordinator must be based in a Widening country, and at least 51% of the budget must be allocated to institutions in Widening countries.
