In line with the objectives of the Horizon Europe Cancer Mission, a webinar titled “Estimating the Cancer Burden in the EU: Insights from the European Cancer Information System (ECIS)” will be held on February 2, 2026, in collaboration with the European Commission Joint Research Centre (JRC).

The event will introduce the statistical analysis and visualization tools provided by the European Cancer Information System (ECIS) platform. Focusing on data validation and harmonization processes conducted in collaboration with European Population-based Cancer Registries, the session will cover the following topics:

• Cancer incidence and mortality estimates across the European Union for 2024.
• Analysis of regional disparities.
• Challenges posed by data gaps across Europe.
• Projections of cancer burden trends up to 2040.

Monitoring this data is crucial within the scope of Cancer Mission strategies, which aim to reverse the rising trend of cancer-related deaths and improve the lives of more than 3 million people by 2030.
