The European Rare Diseases Research Alliance (ERDERA) has officially opened its 2026 International Joint Call for applications. This call aims to support multinational research projects focused on providing diagnostic clarity for unsolved rare genetic and non-genetic diseases by utilizing new variant validation methods and advanced technological approaches such as Artificial Intelligence and Multi-omics.

📅 Call Timeline

• Call Opening Date: 10 December 2025
• Stage 1 (Pre-proposal) Submission Deadline: 12 February 2026
• Stage 2 (Full Proposal) Submission Deadline: 8 July 2026
• Notification of Funding Decisions: December 2026

✅ Eligibility

• International consortia consisting of 4 to 6 eligible principal investigator partners from at least 4 different countries may apply.

• The number of partners can be increased up to 8 if partners from underrepresented countries or early career researchers are included.
• Eligible partner categories include universities, research institutes, hospitals, SMEs, and Patient Advocacy Organizations (PAOs).
• Important: Partners participating from Türkiye are required to submit a national application via the TÜBİTAK PBS system in addition to the international application.

📂 Support Scope and Duration

• The project duration must be a maximum of 36 months.

💶 Funding Amounts

• Maximum Support per Project: 130,000 Euros
• Limit per Lead Organization: 100,000 Euros for higher education/public institutions participating as a coordinator or partner.
