M-ERA.NET 2026 Joint Call

The M-ERA.NET 2026 Joint Call has been launched to strengthen the European advanced materials ecosystem and enhance coordination among national and regional funding programs in materials science and battery technologies. The call will support international R&D projects across 6 thematic areas: materials for energy storage and distribution systems, materials for energy conversion, innovative surfaces and coatings, innovative functional materials with defined architectures, materials addressing environmental challenges, and next-generation materials for electronics. Projects are expected to develop sustainable and circular advanced materials, adopt the Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD) approach, and adhere to Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI) principles.

Eligibility

  • Consortia must consist of at least 3 partners from at least 3 different participating countries.
  • At least 2 of these partners must be from EU Member States or Associated Countries.
  • The workload of a single partner cannot exceed 60% of the total project effort, and the total effort of a single country cannot exceed 70%.
  • From Türkiye, higher education institutions, training and research hospitals, public institutions, and capital companies (private entities) are eligible to apply.

📂 Support Scope and Duration

  • Maximum project duration is 36 months.
  • Partners based in Türkiye will be funded under the TÜBİTAK 1071 Support Program.

📌 It is mandatory for Turkish applicants to submit both the international application via the M-ERA.NET system and the national application via the TÜBİTAK Project Application System (PBS).

💶 Funding Opportunities and Rates

  • Total International Budget: Approximately €40 Million.
  • TÜBİTAK Maximum Funding Limits: The total contribution requested from TÜBİTAK by Turkish partners in a consortium cannot exceed €200,000 per project.
    • Limit per Higher Education/Public Institution: €100,000 (Funding Rate: 100%).
    • Limit per Private Entity: €200,000 (Funding Rate: 60% for Large Enterprises, 75% for SMEs).

📌 While Project Incentive Bonus (PTİ) and Overhead are excluded from the requested budget in the national application, the estimated amounts for PTİ (€415/month) and Overhead (10% of the budget excluding PTİ) must be added to the total budget in the international application forms.
